In this solo episode, I dive into a lesson that completely shifted the way I approach my work: I am not my business, and my business is not me.
It’s so easy to blur the lines between who we are and what we do—especially when we pour so much of ourselves into building a business. But here’s the truth: while your business may reflect your vision, it has its own energy, rhythms, and needs. Understanding the difference can help you create a sustainable, thriving business and honor yourself in the process.
If you’ve ever felt drained, stuck, or out of sync with your business, this episode will help you reconnect and realign.

When I started 10th House Astrology, I thought my business needed to be an exact extension of me—my energy, my needs, and my vision for the future. And in some ways, that's true. But as I moved through my first year in business, I learned a vital lesson: I am not my business, and my business is not me.
This realization hit me hard. I had been trying to mold my business into something that felt 100% aligned with my personal energy. But here's the truth: businesses have their own energy too. Their own rhythms, needs, purpose, and personalities, and when we ignore that, things start to feel out of balance.
This post will give you a peek behind the curtain into how I'm consciously navigating the relationship between my personal astrology chart and my business's chart to create a business that's aligned, sustainable and successful.
If you've ever felt like your business was draining you—or, on the flip side, not living up to its potential—this episode is for you.
Your Chart vs. Your Business's Chart: What's the Difference?
First, let's clear up the basics:
Your natal chart is a snapshot of the sky the moment you were born. It reveals your personality, strengths, challenges and purpose as it unfolds across your lifetime.
Your business's natal chart is a snapshot of the sky the moment your business became "real"—that could be when you purchased your website domain, registered your business, or made your first sale before anything else was "official". This snapshot reflects your business's strengths, purpose and needs.
Here's where it gets tricky: Your chart and your business's chart are (obviously) not the same. They may align in certain ways, but they'll also challenge each other. And that's where the magic—and the work—comes in. The same as in any important relationship.
The rest of this post gives you examples of this in action, using myself and my business as a case study.
Challenging Identities: Aries and Cancer
I have a Cancer Sun and Cancer Ascendant (Rising), which means I thrive when I'm in and/or creating safe, nurturing spaces. I'm intuitive, reflective and need plenty of privacy and time to recharge. I lead with compassion and connection rather than force.
10th House Astrology has a Scorpio Sun conjunct Mars with an Aries Ascendant, meaning the business is bold, action-oriented and full of intensity and fire. My business wants to go, to lead, to transform, and to make big, visible impact. It thrives on pushing boundaries and sparking change, unafraid to go to depths that most are afraid to go.
Even though Cancer and Scorpio can work in harmony, bringing Mars into the mix creates a whole different dynamic that at first, created a lot of friction. I struggled to honor my personal need for rest and introspection while building a business that practically screams. "LET'S FUCKING GOOOO!"
This really, really required some balance and compromise.
Learning to Balance Our Identities
Instead of forcing my business to mirror my energy or exhausting myself to try to keep up with its fiery drive, I've learned that it's vital to create spaces for us to shine in our own ways. Here's a few examples:
I honor my Cancerian need for connection and intimacy by creating safe, transformative space for my clients—whether through advisory sessions, group programs or simply answering emails and DMs. Once you're in my bubble, my priority is to make you feel safe and cared for.
However, I let my business's bold energy lead for the brand, which is helpful when I want to stay tucked safely in my shell. I call on Aries energy to shine through the podcast, blog posts, and collaborative classes as well as the brands messaging and aesthetic. This is where the business gets to lead, inspire and push boundaries.
It's not about sacrificing one identity to make space for the other. It's a matter of find the right outlets for each where each of our gifts will naturally shine.
Challenging Needs: Pisces and Sagittarius
The moon in astrology represents your emotional needs and what you need to feel fulfilled. In business, the moon points to what the business needs in order to create financial security.
My natal Pisces moon thrives on emotional depth, meaning, and a connection to something greater than myself. It emphasizes my need for plenty of quiet time to recharge and reflect so that I can show up fully for my work.
My business has a Sagittarius moon and a need for excitement, adventure and expansion. It wants to inspire people to take risks, chase their dreams and expand beyond their comfort zones.
This tension again—between my need for deep, slow intentional work and my business's need for bold movement—is one that I'm still trying to navigate.
But here's what I've learned so far:
I structure my year to allow for seasons of rest and seasons of growth. By planning ahead and aligning with the astrology of the moment, I can plan periods of time to honor each energy.
I don't have to act on everything at once. Not every idea, product or launch needs to happen as soon as I feel the inspiration to do them. There's a rhythm to growth, and rest is an important part of that rhythm.
Why This Matters to You And Your Business
If you're feeling drained, stuck or frustrated in your business, it might be because your energy and your business's energy are at odds. And that's ok! Understanding both charts can help you:
Recognize where and how your business naturally thrives
Identify areas where you may need support or structure
Find ways to honor your personal needs without holding your business back
Your business doesn't have to be a perfect reflection of you. In fact, the real magic happens when you allow your business to become what it came here to be, while still maintaining alignment with who you are. Think of it as a divine, strategic partnership that was contracted well before either of you came into existence.
Final Thoughts
Your business is its own entity, with its own energy and purpose. But it chose you for a reason. When you learn to honor both your energy and your business's, you unlock a balance that allows you and your business to thrive. You become so much greater than the sum of your parts.
